Working Hours
One full-time, tenure-track faculty position, beginning in July 2015. Contract is for 195 days. Salary placement will be on the academic salary schedule, plus a 1.108% time differential (reflecting the number of contractual days) and 4% responsibility differential (in recognition of responsibilities required of a director-level position). The standard work week for this position is forty (40) hours with thirty-five (35) hours scheduled for position-specific duties and five (5) hours of collegial governance (i.e., institutional service) and departmental activities. The person selected for this position will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation.
Basic Function and Other Details
Under the direction of the Dean of Counseling and Student Development, the Faculty Director is responsible for the oversight, management, planning and implementation of the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS), Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE), and California Work Opportunity and Resources for Kids (CalWORKs) programs. Responsible for ensuring quality in the delivery of programs and services to students and compliance with federal and state requirements. The Director oversees department and program budgets and supervises assigned staff and faculty. Acts as liaison with other district/campus student service programs, community organizations, and high school and 4-year partners to enhance services provided to EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs students. Coordinates program activities and services to serve all campus locations.
Representative Duties

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Directly manage and coordinate the daily operation of EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs programs. (E)
2. Maintain compliance with Title V state regulations and district policies regarding the administration of EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs. (E)
3. Responsible for program review, assessment of Service Area Outcomes, and other reports as required or deemed necessary. (E)
4. Supervise, evaluate the performance of, and provide leadership and in-service training to assigned staff. (E)
5. Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with instructional, administrative, and student services departments.
6. Serve as a liaison with high schools and community service agencies in order to communicate student opportunities and to obtain information regarding potential students for the programs.
7. Attend regional and state program meetings and conferences.
8. Plan and schedule advisory committee meetings.
9. Establish program eligibility parameters of new students and monitor the eligibility of continuing students. (E)
10. Plan, organize and coordinate the recruitment of potential students.
11. Coordinate an orientation program for new and continuing students. (E)
12. Coordinate various program activities such as registration, tutorial assistance, counseling and other program-specific activities with district student services and instructional programs/departments at the three campus locations. (E)
13. Serve as liaison with faculty, counselors, and other college staff in aiding students in making a proper adjustment to the various aspects of college life. (E)
14. Organize, develop and disseminate brochures, pamphlets and other informational material publicizing the availability of student and academic services provided by the programs.
15. Maintain an understanding of current ideas, research, and practices pertaining to the areas of responsibility of this position through continued study and participation in professional organizations.
16. Provide counseling and other counseling related duties as assigned to meet the mission of the department. (E)
17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
1. Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university AND one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the assignment; OR
2. A California Community College Supervisor Credential; AND
3. Must have, within the last four years, two years of experience or the equivalent:
(a) In the management or administration of educational programs, community organizations, government programs, or private industry in which the applicant dealt predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages; OR
(b) As a community college EOPS counselor or EOPS instructor, or have comparable experience in working with disadvantaged clientele.
AND
4. Shall have completed a minimum of six units of college-level course work predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by educational, language, or social disadvantages; AND
5. sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable Qualifications
The college seeks candidates who have achieved the highest level of professional excellence as demonstrated by:
1. At least one year of full-time equivalent leadership experience in the management or administration of educational programs.
2. Sensitivity to issues (career, personal, social) faced by first-generation, underrepresented, and non-traditional college students.
3. Experience working with persons challenged by language, social or economic disadvantages.
4. At least two years of previous experience working at a community college.
5. Knowledge of and interest in implementing technology-enhanced services.
6. Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs.
7. Bilingual (English and Spanish).
