Summary Description

Instructor, Physical Education(Kinesiology)/Head Football Coach

 

Examples of Duties

•instructing Kinesiology courses;

•participating in staff and professional meetings;

•keeping accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and scholastic progress;

•observing all Board Policies and administrative regulations;

•evaluating, planning, and coordinating all programs relevant to the success of the student athletes;

•assisting with the conditioning, training and practicing of athletes in the program, and with monitoring their behavioral conduct;

•assisting with fundraising, purchasing, and managing the team’s operating budget; and

•ensuring compliance with CCCAA, SCFA, and SBCCD rules, regulations, and policies.

 

Minimum Requirements

1. Master’s in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education, OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy OR the equivalent.

 

2. Experience that indicates a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.

 

Desired Qualifications

Desired qualifications for this position include:

• experience in teaching students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and widely varying levels of proficiency;

• demonstrated successful teaching experience preferably at the college level;

• recent experience as a high school or college head coach or as a collegiate level offensive or defensive coordinator;

• experience in teaching general kinesiology activity courses, fitness courses, or lecture courses in Health Education at the college level; and

• experience in mentoring students in a Kinesiology related certificated program.

Salary and Benefits:

Starting salary annual salary $48,320.88 to $78,443.26 for 177 days of service, plus family medical, dental, and vision coverage and employee life insurance (employee contribution depends upon plan selected.) STRS Retirement (employee contributes 8.15%).
