Summary Description:

 

Under the direction of the Dean of Counseling and Matriculation the Articulation Officer/Counselor is responsible for: developing, planning, coordinating and implementing all articulation functions between San Bernardino Valley College and CSU, UC, Private four-year institutions and other community colleges; coordinating activities related to curriculum and curriculum development on campus and within the District and maintenance of files/documentation to assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations that govern inter-segmental articulation of curriculum for transfer; assist the curriculum committee and campus departments with the cyclical updating and revision of course outlines and with the submission for acceptance of new courses being developed; serve on College and District committees, participate in departmental and college activities.

 

Examples of Duties:

 

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Maintain the College articulation programs, procedures and policies as directed by the California Education Code, California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) regulations and standards, California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office Curriculum Review Committee Guidelines and Standards; Develop, coordinate and maintain comprehensive articulation programs with UC, CSU system and private colleges and universities and colleges in California and elsewhere and liaison with the representative articulation staff of these institutions; Develop, maintain and provide oversight of college general education and transfer agreement/ guarantee programs such as associate degree for transfer AS-T & AA-T, IGETC, the UC Transfer Course Agreement and CSU General Education Breadth in cooperation with other district articulation officers and curriculum representatives; Provide consultation resource information to faculty, instructional deans and other college representatives on course and program articulation issues, especially as related to the review, revision and development of courses with transfer preparation and articulation potential; Participate in the online curriculum review (CurricuNET) process in a timely manner and on College and District committees responsible for the operation and improvement of this system; Maintain articulation files, prepare and disseminate curriculum and articulation reports as required by university and other collegiate organizations and systems; Participate in college, district, regional and State articulation related activities and organizations to be informed of and to assure compliance with inter-segmental articulation changes and developments; Oversee and maintain articulation information on Articulation System Stimulating International Student Transfer (ASSIST); Complete and submit the annual California Community Colleges Articulation Report; Communicate with college counseling and transfer center staff to identify articulation needs to four year institutions; Collaborate with faculty in design and publication of student transfer course major sheets; Provide academic, career , and personal counseling to current and potential students during peak registration periods as identified and assigned by the Dean; Maintain, prepare and provide oversight of budget reports as related to the college articulation office; perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent. (NOTE: A license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline, pursuant to title 5, section 53410.1.)

Experience that indicates a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.

 

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience of articulation programs, procedures and policies/regulations required by the California Education Code, CSU & UC, and California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.

Demonstrate knowledge of policies, procedures and future trends impacting articulation of program and courses.

Experience in curriculum and curriculum development.

Experience with computer software and technology to facilitate articulation, transfer, student services, or instruction.

Highly developed oral and written skills to effectively communicate with campus faculty, administration, staff, students and outside institutions. 

A minimum of two years of community college experience in working with and providing academic, career, and personal counseling

 

Working Hours:

Monday-Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Salary and Benefits:

Starting salary of $71,074 to $88,636 per year for (200 days of service per year), plus family medical, dental, and vision coverage and employee life insurance (employee contribution depends upon plan selected.) STRS Retirement (employee contributes 8%).
