The GAIS Mission

We are looking for an additional English / Humanities teacher with the following requirements for the 2015/16 academic school year:

Duties
You will be responsible for delivering instruction in the English language to students in the Middle Year and High School program. The teacher is responsible for teaching the subjects of IB MYP English and Humanities in English to students in Grades 5-10. The Humanities program encompasses a world perspective of History within the timeline of 8000BC up to World War II. It also integrates Geography components.

In addition to classroom instruction, the teacher will be expected to participate in supervision duties, staff meetings, parent meetings, workshops and various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that promote the school’s programs and reputation. The school operates from 8:00 to 15:00, Monday to Friday and includes an additional 2.5 hours per week for faculty meetings.

Requirements

The teacher must:

• Be a native English speaker.
• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education Master’s Degree or equivalent credentials are preferred
• Have endorsements in Humanities and English as a language of instruction.
• Have at least five years experience teaching the appropriate subject at the Middle School or High School Level.
• Have excellent organizational and teamwork skills.
• Possesses dynamic energy and the ability to work with the students in an engaging way.

• Have experience with the International Baccalaureate MYP Program and DP Programs.

Contract Information
The contract commences on August 1^st, 2015.  It is for one year and is renewable on a yearly basis by mutual agreement. The salary for a teacher with 8 years of experience and an M.A. degree is $61,000 including bonus. The school offers a Kaiser Permanente Health Plan 20 (80% school contribution), MacBook Air, relocation and visa assistance.
