Are you a tech industry rockstar who's ready to inspire the next generation of Silicon Valley leaders? San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is seeking a candidate with experience in the game industry or computer science to teach game design and computer science to high school students! Become an integral part of the groundbreaking "Game Design Academy" for 11th and 12th graders and partner with leading local tech companies. Career Technical Education (sfusd.edu/cte) helps students develop an industry-standard set of skills to prepare them for a career in the tech industry by introducing them to CS and game design concepts through Snap!, Python, and JavaScript to create 2D games. Second year Academy students use 3D Studio Max, Unity, C# and Adobe to create 3D games. The classroom teacher works collaboratively with industry professionals from Zynga and the Microsoft TEALS program. The ideal applicant would be one who comes directly from the field, knows at least one programming language and wants to help lead the development of IT career focused programs in San Francisco public schools.All applicants must be able to obtain a preliminary CTE credential, which requires 3 years of relevant experience in the fields of computer science, software engineering, web design, game design, coding, networking or other IT-related work, teaching or college-level coursework. Teaching experience is a plus, but not required; all IT/design professionals are encouraged to apply.
