Special Instructions to Applicants

In order to be considered for this position, you must submit the following items:

1. Application for Classified Employment. All experience relevant to this position must be listed on the application form.

2. A cover letter addressed to the "Screening and Interview Committee" which details your experience planning and/or carrying out an event, project, or training. While this position entails producing instructional materials and trainings, your example may deviate from that, but should demonstrate your ability to work with complex projects and their inevitable problems. A second example in this letter should address your communication skills and provide examples of how you take both audience and purpose into consideration when communicating either orally or through writing.

3. As mentioned in the "Representative Duties" section of this job posting, this position needs to be able to fill-in for writing coaches. The MiraCosta Writing Center offers appointment types which go beyond writing feedback such as Reading Assistance, Parts of Speech, and Online Feedback. Please view the short videos about these services at http://www.miracosta.edu/studentservices/WritingCenter/appointment.html. Then in one document, write three separate numbered paragraphs which detail your training or experience with the following three areas, respectively: 1) the importance of addressing higher order concerns in writing feedback before lower order concerns; 2) your comfort using grammar concepts and terminology, particularly with non-native speakers; 3) your capabilities with screen capture or skype-like technologies that are used in our online feedback service. Attach this document to the "Other Document" link.

4. Transcripts of college coursework which provide evidence of meeting the minimum qualifications as stated above. Unofficial or legible copies are acceptable but must indicate that the degree was awarded, if applicable. Any degree/coursework used to satisfy the minimum qualifications must be from a postsecondary institution accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by either the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation.
