Under the direction of the Director, Finance and Operations, the Programmer Analyst III Supervisor (PA) serves as the primary technology infrastructure resource for the UCLA Lab School (an elementary school), a predominately Apple Macintosh environment. The PA is charged with assuring the varied technology needs of the school's diverse user base are continually being met with the highest levels of service, quality, security, and reliability. The PA has primary responsibility for the overall technical direction of a school comprised of 550 users in distinct user groups including: demonstration teachers, administrators, school psychologist, administrative staff, elementary-school students, instructional aides, finance personnel, development staff, library staff, extended-day personnel, and research associates (CONNECT). General responsibilities include system administration, directory and server infrastructure design, implementation, and security for a heterogeneous computer network comprised of 275+ desktop/laptop Macintosh machines and up to 10 servers, as well as application support for a variety of educational and business applications. Under the direction of the Director, Finance and Operations, the PA is responsible for providing and soliciting input from the various user groups in order to gauge current and upcoming technology needs, and recommending how best to provide technology infrastructure to meet such needs. In collaboration with the Director, Finance and Operations, the PA formulates the annual strategic technology infrastructure plan including the technology budget. The PA represents the UCLA Lab School in all technology-related matters both on the UCLA campus and with any and all third parties, including technology solution vendors. The PA manages a full-time web designer and a full-time help desk employee and will supervise and train all incoming support staff.
