Classroom Art Teacher
The Community School of Music and Arts is hiring K-8 art teachers for our art-in-the schools program in San Jose and Santa Clara as well as after-school art classes taught at the school sites in Mountain View and Cupertino. Positions open are from one to fifteen hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS: Strong art background especially in drawing and painting. Must have prior experience working with children in a classroom setting and strong classroom management skills. Art degree (masters preferred.) Teaching credential a plus. Commitment to CSMA goals. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Art4Schools: Teach a curriculum based art program to children in public elementary schools in grades K-8
- After school Art Club: Teach a curriculum of theme based after school art classes
- Attend faculty meetings to enhance faculty and curriculum development.
- Report to Art4Schools Manager
- A4S: Hang student artwork in at least one community show and at the school site.
- A4S: Coordinate and host an all-school art show that will display students' artwork from the entire year
SALARY : 33.70 per hour plus 20% prep time and paid meetings. Community and all school shows are paid events.

From its all-volunteer beginnings in 1968, CSMA has grown to be the largest arts education provider in Santa Clara County. Annually 16,000 children and adults are served through private and group instruction in music, after school and vacation visual arts classes and camps, in-school visual arts and music programs, concerts, exhibits, masterclasses, and outreach activities and events.
