Summary Description
This is a temporary contract position through 6/30/2015.
The EOPS/CARE Counselor will evaluate student transcripts, assist students with educational planning, career planning, transfer and appropriate course selection.
Other responsibilities of the EOPS/CARE include but not limited to: teaching student development courses designed for EOPS/CARE students performing outreach services to high schools and the community; serving as a liaison to instructional divisions; assisting with the development of an EOPS/CARE newsletter.
Examples of Duties:
1) Conduct EOPS/CARE orientations and workshops
2) Provide academic, career and minimal personal counseling to students within the program.
3) Work collaboratively with the CARE program in providing focused workshops: parenting community resources; self-esteem; student success
4) Teaching a Student Development course aimed at EOPS/CARE students
5) Participate in regional and state EOPS/CARE conferences.
Minimum Requirements:
1) Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent. (NOTE: A license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline, pursuant to title 5, section 53410.1.)
2) Experience that indicates a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in facilitating EOPS/CARE workshops and orientations
Ability to administer and interpret assessment instruments
Knowledge of EOPS/CARE Title 5 regulations, articulation agreements relating to successful transition of students between K-12 system and community college system
Working Hours:
Monday, Thursday, and Friday: 8:30am-4:30pm. Tuesday & Wednesday: 11:00am-7:00pm
Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary annual salary $54,600.00 to $88,636.00 based on 200 days of service, plus family medical, dental, and vision coverage and employee life insurance (employee contribution depends upon plan selected.) STRS Retirement (employee contributes 8.15%).

Transcripts must be legible. Transcripts must be from a US accredited institution. Transcripts from outside the US must include an official evaluation for equivalency. Copies of diplomas will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts if the position requires a degree. Official Transcripts will be required upon hire.
