Pay Information:

Range 28, $3,631.00 – $5,895.93 per month based on the current AFT Office Technical salary schedule. New employees will start on Step C ($4,003.18). Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. New employees to PERS will be required to pay 50% of their PERS Retirement costs. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment. The Position

Applications are currently being accepted for Research Associate in the Institutional Research and Planning, located at the District Office. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department’s needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

• Basic principles of project and research planning and design, data collection, analysis, report preparation and presentation of results.

• Basic principles of statistical analysis.

• Basic principles of survey design and techniques.

• Basic techniques of project management.

• Basics of research design, including literature review and synthesis, and comprehensive report preparation with respect to purpose, method, analysis, results, and recommendation.

• Computer data management and analysis applications.

• Correct English usage and strong report writing and presentation.

• Intermediate research techniques and methodologies, including both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

• Basic design and administration of questionnaires and research instruments.

• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

• Detail orientated.

• Develop, evaluate, and effectively present alternative recommendations.

• Effective oral presentation and written communications.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

• Evaluate and make recommendations in operations, systems, procedures, policies, and methods.

• Intermediate skill in Microsoft Access and Excel, and various web applications.

• Meet schedules and timeliness.

• Perform statistical and qualitative analyses.

• Prepare written analysis, recommendations, and complex reports.

• Proficient in the use of complex software programs designed to import, manipulate and organize large databases (e.g., SPSS, SAS).

Conditions of Employment: SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT:

Submit “official” college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position);

• Pass a pre-employment physical exam at the District’s expense;

• Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);

• Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the candidate’s expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment);

• Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States; AND

• Attend a new hire processing appointment in Human Resources located at the District Administrative Offices.
