Garden Street Academy is an independent K-12 school serving a diverse population of students in the Santa Barbara region.
We are hiring a responsible, motivated individual to work with an assigned student in an elementary classroom setting, helping with academics and promoting a positive learning environment. You will be responsible for assisting a certified teacher in implementing recommended strategies to maximize student learning and social interaction.
Requirements: Must have the ability and/or experience to work with individual students and to provide a productive learning environment. We are looking for candidates who can be assertive and make decisions independently and quickly based on the best interest of the children. Must be patient, self-motivated and have consistent attendance. Must be flexible in approach and willing to take on assigned duties. Must have an enthusiasm for working with children.
Preferred: Minimum of 48 college units, prior experience working with children, knowledge of educational theory or child development.
The position is part-time (25 hrs wk) without benefits. 8:30am to 1:30pm (or similar).
