NOTE: This is a substitute pool, and not a current opening at Julian Charter School. Applicants with appropriate qualifications will be listed on our instructional/special education aide substitute pool, and may be called by any of our programs/locations when a substitute is needed. Candidates will only be considered hired once called by a JCS administrator and engaged as a day substitute for this position. This is a classified position - no credential required.
Job Description:
Classroom Instructional Aide or Special Education/One to One Aide
Reports to: Site coordinator or Assistant Director for Special Education
Position Salary: Appropriate hourly rate based upon Classified Salary Schedule
General Description
In this position, the substitute aide will assist with student education programs in consultation with the classroom teacher, site coordinator, or special education department. Substitute assignments may include providing physical assistance, as instructed, to students with physical or mobility impairment.
Additional requirements:
Create reports/documents as assigned.
Participate in in-service training offered by the school as assigned.
Maintain materials that are owned by the school including curriculum, protocols and testing kits.
Process required paperwork completely and in a timely manner.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working as an instructional classroom aide or experience working with special needs students preferred.
Candidates who are not already working for a San Diego County public school or district must have fingerprints cleared and on file with Julian Charter School prior to reporting for a substitute assignment.
A current negative TB test is required.
Ability to perform the major requirements of the specified assignment (i.e. lifting, carrying, holding, standing, speaking, viewing).
Application to this position places a candidate in consideration for being included in a pool of candidates for future substitute (i.e., temporary) assignments. Acceptance of this application does not imply or promise a future assignment or position. Candidates are not hired until contacted by a school administrator or designee and offered a substitute (i.e., temporary) assignment. This is a classified position - no credential needed. Credentialed employees may apply to be included in this pool, however, substitute pay is based upon the appropriate hourly rate on the classified salary schedule.
