The Rancho Santa Fe School District is seeking a Director of Finance. Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the Director of Finance serves as chief business officer of the District and managing business services of the District. The Director of Finance directs and performs the accounting and budgeting functions of RSFSD and provides accurate and timely fiscal information which can be used for current and future budget and finance decisions. The Director of Finance will plan, organize, coordinate, and manage the offices of accounting, purchasing, and payroll and will provide administrative and technical financial assistance to the Superintendent, governing Board, site administrators and directors.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Finance has the following duties and responsibilities:
Provides fiscal advice and data to the Superintendent, the Board and Board representatives
Works with Superintendent on budget preparation and prepares/files all required state filings including multi-year and cash flow projections
Maintains a complete set of records of financial transactions by overseeing, reviewing, and entering transaction details into an established financial accounting system.
Prepares periodic reports of revenue and expense performance, asset balances, cash balances, accounts payable and receivable summaries, and other accounts that contribute to a complete accounting of the activity of the District.
Coordinates the District audit and prepares fiscal reports to complete audit
Directs accounting functions, including payroll and student attendance
Provides financial analysis as needed by senior staff. Provides technical expertise to senior staff for all related financial areas.
Responsible for all budgeting and accounting of district facility projects
Ensures adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all administrative functions may pass independent and governmental audits
Provides info used in negotiations with employee groups
Coordinates District insurance program
Works cooperatively with other staff members
Supervises assigned personnel
Performs other tasks as assigned
The successful candidate will have:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting or related field
Working knowledge of school district fiscal planning, data processing and employee supervision
Demonstrated ability as a fiscal administrator
Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies in areas of responsibility.
Five to ten years of experience in school accounting/business including at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity. The Director of Finance needs to be familiar with the new funding mechanism for K-12 public education in the State of California.
The salary range for this position is $113,000 to $129,670. District paid employee medical, dental and life insurance is provided.
