Position: Charter School Learning Director       Classification: Certificated

Reports To: Superintendent                                Salary: Management Salary

 SUMMARY

The Program Evaluator will assist the Superintendent in evaluating and providing leadership for the overall instructional program of the curriculum.  Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the curriculum and instruction of which includes curriculum and staff development.

Essential Duties:

  • Reports regularly to the Superintendent and provide oral and or written summaries regarding the status of curriculum and instruction within the district.
  • Coordinates and oversees the selection of textbooks and maintain a list of all textbooks.
  • Develop a plan for curriculum study and improvement consistent with the district vision, goals and policies.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the staff through goals and objectives for educational programs.
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate the curricular and instructional program of the district, including learning objectives, instructional strategies and assessment techniques.
  • Interpret the present curriculum and proposed curriculum changes to the board, administration, and the staff.
  • Coordinate research and testing for measuring the effectiveness of the educational program.
  • Coordinate and monitor staff development and in-service activities for the education staff.
  • Upon request of the Superintendent, observe teachers and offer coaching insights for the enhancement of effective instruction.
  • Assist building staff morale.
  • Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
  • Examine and develop graduation requirements and other educational standards and develop appropriate recommendations for revision consistent with the charter goals and state requirements.
  • Assist in the development of the curricular policies.
  • Act as Lead Administrator when so designated.
  • Support classroom management
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by Administration.

 Essential Functions:

  • Assist in leadership of organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating the effective operation of the charter program.
  • Establish an optimum learning environment within the curricular program.
  • Ensure that assigned school programs and activities conform to federal, state and district guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
  • Support the philosophy and mission of West Park Elementary School District.
  • Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, teachers, staff and community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness, implement policy and procedures, interpret data and strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Valid California teaching credential and Master’s degree or equivalent in Education Administration or Curriculum and Instruction or over ten years of educational service in a related role.
  • Administrative Service Credential is a plus

  • Persons performing service in this position classification may exert 5 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This type of work involves sitting a portion of the time, but will involve walking or standing for brief periods.
  • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far, vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
