Position Title: School Site Administrator (MANAGEMENT POSITION)
Supervisor: Executive Director and Governance Council
Summary of Position
This is a highly visible administrative position, and is responsible for planning, organizing, facilitating, and directing all instructional activities, extracurricular events, special programs and facility operations at the school site. He or she provides instructional leadership to resource center staff including curriculum planning, review, and implementation. He or she is responsible for day-to-day site administration, safety and welfare of students assigned to the site, staff, and activities. He or she ensures a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere, provides discipline as necessary, and enforces school and district policy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Regularly reports to the Executive Director and Governance Council on school activities and relevant matters
- Inspire a culture of excellence that is centered on the school’s vision
- Manages and supervises all full and part-time staff (under the supervision and direction of the Executive Director and Superintendent as needed)
- Participates in and/or oversees annual evaluation of teachers and other administrative staff
- Collaborates on the development of job descriptions, personnel policies, and procedures
- Provides leadership to the school staff, defines and clarifies educational objectives, and stimulates high levels of job performance.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, plans, directs, implements, and evaluates the instructional program in the school, assists teachers in instructional improvement, and allocates sufficient time for classroom observation.
- Coordinates and oversees staff development and training that is aligned to the state frameworks, Common Core and Single School Plan
- Conducts regular staff meetings
- Develops and maintains research-based educational programs in conjunction with the school Vision/Mission, state law, charter school laws and regulations, and CA frameworks
- Evaluates, selects, and orders supplies, materials, and equipment appropriate to the school site.
- Coordinates group testing in accordance with California State Standards, district policy, and school programs.
- Coordinates the planning and scheduling of teacher/student/parent conferences, assisting with/attending SST’s and IEP’s
- Provides primary responsibility for student discipline, guidance, and counseling, develops and implements plans for control of student discipline and conduct within guidelines of NESD policies, and initiates and attending hearings on these matters when necessary.
- Assists and supports teachers in modifying student behavior, processes student disciplinary actions, personnel actions, and/or related matters for the purpose of documenting such actions, and adhering to school and district policies and education code.
- Assists teachers with programs and problems relating to pupils and instruction, coordinates and participates in screening of and recommending of pupils for special education classes and/or other special programs, provides direction and guidance to all support services providers regarding current programs, problems, and other needs of the school.
- Establishes regular channels of student-staff-School Site Administrator/executive director communications.
- Establishes positive staff morale, stimulates staff professional growth, and recognizes outstanding accomplishments.
- Acts as the site coordinator for the school and state assessment programs
- Oversees school data reporting systems, classroom, general school and CDE required data, and participates in program evaluation to ensure compliance with all program regulations and requirements
- Collaborates to maintain all necessary school and program plans as required by District and State
- Provide supervision for school attendance and enrollment
- Maintains on-going communication regarding the site budget to the Executive Director
- Tracks and verifies all site purchases as well as maintains an accountability system for equipment and non-consumable materials purchases
- Attends required meeting called by school and District Administrators
- Responds in a timely manner for requests for information from the Executive Director, District Superintendent or Designee for all district and/or state/federal-required information and reports.
Parents/Community
- Maintains an open door policy for parents
- Participates in teacher-parent conferences when appropriate
- Works with PTO and other parent committees to implement programs for parents and students
- Articulates the school’s mission and vision to parents and the community
- Conducts annual parent surveys and recommends changes to the Governance Council when appropriate
- Develops and implements regular home/school communication strategies
- Establishes procedures to keep the community informed about the educational program, and activities of the school
- Conducts community outreach programs in order to create a positive influence in the community at large
- Collaborates on the development, maintenance and implementation of a site public relations plan or similar plan
- Collaborates in the development of grants and other fundraising activities
- Designs and implements open house and orientations to help prospective families develop a clear picture of school expectations for all students and families.
Employment Standards/Desirable Qualifications/Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Skills to appropriately manage personnel and programs, communicate effectively, and problem solve.
- Knowledge of California State Teaching Standards, curriculum and education code, 21st Century Skills, educational reform models including virtual learning, blended learning, flipped classrooms, LMS
- Effective techniques of supervision and training
- Federal and state laws and regulations/guidelines related to non-classroom based Charter Schools for funding, attendance, facilities, etc.
- Facilities management
- MAC OS software and application, MS Office, Internet applications, data base management, web-based communication
- Oral and written communication skills
Ability to:
- read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- effectively present information and respond to questions from groups including staff, parents, and the general public

- assist to develop, plan, implement and administer the program goals and objectives
- direct the operational functions of a non-classroom based K-8 Elementary Charter School resource center
- interpret and successfully apply a variety of federal and state law, regulations, and guidelines as they relate to Charter school education and administration
- interpret and successfully implement Council and District policies, Council objectives, directives, and educational philosophy
Education and Experience
Appropriate California Administrative Services Credential.
Masters Degree
Valid California Driver’s License.
