BASIC FUNCTION: Under general supervision of assigned management employee, provide beginning, intermediate and advanced strategies and instruction working with children. Instruction will include individual and group activities, guided self-paced learning, occupational instruction, career awareness, training-site supervision, and evaluation of students enrolled in the ROP Careers With Children class. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: {May include, but is not limited to the following.} 1. Develop and implement lessons to teach skills required for students to master competencies. 2. Provide group and individual instruction utilizing effective teaching strategies, aids and equipment. 3. Evaluate students’ skills and job readiness competencies, and maintain accurate student records. 4. Manage classroom in a manner that supports learning. 5. Work effectively as part of a team. 6. Collaborate in curriculum modification as needed. 7. Assist students in developing an individualized learning plan to prepare for employment, advanced training, or career advancement. 8. Participate in subject matter advisory committee. 9. Keep abreast of current practices and training methods. 10. Assist in recruitment and employment of students. 11. Perform other duties as required. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Select appropriate materials and/or processes for difference of ages, ability and functioning levels. 2. Choose from a variety of techniques and instruments in order to evaluate student progress. 3. Employ observation techniques and classroom management techniques required to increase task behavior. 4. Maintain and improve professional skills and knowledge. 5. Be flexible and receptive to change. 6. Must have validated experience with Occupations with Children and be prepared to instruct in relation to the program. 7. Must view learners as partners, and actively solicit student thinking and direction. 8. Employ practical abilities to seek out and apply cutting edge resources to the instructional setting. 9. Create active and visible links to the business community in order to produce internships/externships, and jobs for students. 10. Bilingual skills are a plus. 11. Show as a daily practice enthusiasm for leading students into complex real life Child Occupations with Children projects. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: 1. Single Subjects Credential OR 2. Designated Subjects Vocational Credential authorizing the teaching of Careers With Children or equivalent. 3. Qualify for a Designated Subjects Vocational Credential by meeting the following: a. Verification of high school graduation or the equivalent, plus five years full-time practical work experience in Careers with Children (Forty-eight semester units or post-secondary vocational training related to the subject, may be substituted for a maximum of two of the five years of experience.). b. One of the required years of practical experience must be within the last three years. 4. Possess a valid California driver’s license.
