The Institution:
Sacramento City College is a multi-campus urban college with its main campus in a park-like setting located in the heart of the Sacramento metropolitan area. The college is a vibrant teaching and learning center with approximately 23,000 day and evening students. Founded in 1916, Sacramento City College is a place of rich tradition and history, with a vitality and diversity that is contemporary. The college consists of a 70-acre main campus across from William Land Park and outreach centers in Davis and West Sacramento. The college provides technologically updated classrooms and offers a variety of class schedules to meet student needs. Position Summary:
Primary Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Instruction, the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Economic and Workforce Development provides leadership and administrative oversight for the planning, organization, and evaluation of selected instructional divisions, programs, and services, particularly those focused on the delivery of career technical education and coordinates the college's effort to offer vital career programs for the community. The Associate Vice President works with the District in administering the college's Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education (CTE) Improvement Act program and managing the use of funds and services, monitoring programs for effectiveness, and ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations in the use of funds. Emphasis will be placed on the growth potential of occupational/vocational programs, establishing partnerships and securing grants.
The Associate Vice President will represent the college in state and regional occupational administrative groups and direct the development and coordination of potential partnerships with appropriate industries, high schools, community organizations and universities as they relate to career programs. The Associate Vice President will assist in the interface of the college with state and federal agencies in our efforts to be an educational force in economic and workforce development.
In addition, the Associate Vice President will provide administrative support to the instructional services operation in enrollment management, including class scheduling, the production of the class schedule and college catalog; in logistical aspects of the curriculum committee and program approval processes; in the management of faculty contracts and accountability; and in the coordination and usage of college instructional facilities. The Associate Vice President will work with administrators to develop and implement programs and strategies to address the Board of Governors' initiatives related to workforce development and student success. The Associate Vice President will have the opportunity to work with a wide diversity of faculty, staff and students on a variety of instructional issues.
Responsibilities:
Typical Duties:
Provides leadership for the advancement of college's economic and workforce development efforts.
Initiates and oversees the development of career ladders and programs by working with college faculty, business and industry, advisory groups, and other appropriate organizations.
Serves as a college liaison to occupational administrative groups and develops partnerships with external agencies including business and industry, high schools and universities.
Works with and provides administrative oversight of selected instructional areas and division deans.
Supervises assigned employees and operations.
Works with and provides administrative oversight to local, statewide, or national grants and/or special projects.
Works with faculty, staff and students to facilitate consensus and action on issues pertaining to instructional programs, including support services and technology utilization.
Monitors programs, files reports and ensures adherence to regulations of federal and state agencies for the receipt and expenditure of funds.
Provides administrative and technical support to the instructional services operations that may include responsibility for the college schedule, catalog, and related publications; curriculum; program approval; and instructional facilities usage.
Works to ensure promotion/marketing of occupational programs.
Participates as a management team member in general activities related to personnel, support, facilities, and funding of the instructional programs.
Assists the Vice President of Instruction with enrollment management, productivity, and growth.
Provides leadership through continued evaluation and improvement of assigned instructional programs.
Coordinates the personnel selection process including developing and reviewing selection criteria, recruiting, screening, interviewing, and recommending within area of responsibility.
Serves on local, District, and state committees as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction or college President; aids in interpreting college programs and services to the general public.
Uses technology to organize, categorize, and coordinate instructional data and reports.
Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Have a master's degree* from an accredited institution completed by August 15, 2014.
2. Two full years of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment.
3. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles.

Full-time, Twelve month Educational Administrative Position
Beginning on or about August 15, 2014.

Conditions:
All Positions: Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful clearance from a criminal background check, freedom from tuberculosis, and proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States prior to the first day of work. The District may select additional qualified candidates should unexpected vacancies or needs occur during this recruitment/selection process. When education is a requirement for the position, official academic transcripts from the accredited college/university must be submitted within 60 days of hire.
Administrative/Executive/Faculty Positions: Contingent on funding and eligibility, successful candidates selected for an interview may be eligible to apply for partial reimbursement of travel expenses.
Administrative/Executive Positions: Administrative positions may be subject to the District's Conflict of Interest Code, and a statement of economic interest is required within thirty (30) days following appointment to the position. Management/Executive positions are exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Additional stipend for an earned doctorate from an accredited university.
