Job Description / Essential Elements:

1) Identify, through assessment, children eligible to receive special education services;
2) Participate as a member of a team to identify the needs and specific goals and objectives of each child's individual education plan;
3) Supervise, direct and engage students in activities in a classroom environment;
4) Develop programs for student's to allow for success in an educational environment and serve as a liaison to facilitate successful mainstreaming of students when appropriate;
5) Conduct informal evaluations and modify each student's curriculum;
6) Consult and articulate with staff and parents via meetings and phone, regarding the needs of students;
7) Utilize resources both within and outside the school district to facilitate student progress in both educational and social development;
8) Provide parents with appropriate instructional strategies;
9) Maintain knowledge of current regulations pertaining to special education and continue independent professional growth;
10) Maintain records, files and reports as required by federal, state, and district regulations;
11) Maintain confidentiality of all written and oral information;
12) Communicate with physicians, private schools, and community organizations regarding special education services;
13) Insure health and safety of children;
14) Assist parents to coordinate utilization of appropriate community services
Requirements / Qualifications
Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential or a California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services credential required. Applicants who do not have a valid credential the first day of the school year will not be considered. 30-day Substitute Credentials are NOT valid credentials for contracted positions in our district.
