We are seeking Faculty for City Charter Elementary School, an innovative, dual language immersion program (Spanish/English) in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Our vision is the creation of a community of learners founded on three pillars: Educational Excellence, Diversity, and Community. We are a dual language (Spanish) 90:10 model school that integrates research based best practices with a constructivist and social justice lens. 

The ideal teaching candidate must have:

  • Experience at a dual language immersion/bilingual school
  • Fluency in target language – Spanish
  • California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a BCLAD or equivalent credential (or willingness to transfer out-of-state credential to CA before 8/2014)

 

The ideal teaching candidate should have:

  • Experience at a high performing school that maintained high expectations for all students and valued a college going culture
  • Enthusiasm for the school’s values, mission and educational philosophy
  • Proven commitment to constructivism, project-based learning, multiple assessments, data driven instruction and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning
  • Experience with integrating modern technologies with curriculum
  • 3+ years experience teaching K-3 school students

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop Backward Design curriculum and implement student-centered lessons that incorporate the school’s definition of an educated person and emphasize active learning strategies and problem-based and project-based learning
  • Assess student progress in multiple ways and maintaining accurate records
  • Develop an individualized action research professional development plan
  • Maintain frequent communication with students, student’s families, colleagues, and other school stakeholders
  • Develop a positive behavior classroom plan
  • Collaborate with parents and other stakeholders in fulfilling the mission and vision of the school
