Ramona Convent is a private all-girls Catholic college preparatory high school located on 20 picturesque acres in Alhambra. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic English teacher to begin in August 2014. Experience teaching English and working with English Language Learners is required. Applicants should have experience in using educational technologies in the teaching and learning processes, and in taking an inquiry-and skills-based approach to teaching and learning. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents and colleagues. In addition to classroom responsibilities, this position requires attendance at faculty, department meetings and committee meetings; participation in program and curriculum development; and involvement in student life activities throughout the year. The preferred applicant will • Have experience teaching English at the high school level • Have expert knowledge of sheltered English classroom protocols and differentiated instruction • Be able to utilize computers and other instructional technology in the classroom • Have an undergraduate or graduate degree in English and/or a California single-subject teaching credential in English o English Learner Authorization (CLAD, or authorization embedded in credential) preferred o Bilingual English-Mandarin a plus • Be able to motivate students from a broad spectrum of academic, cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic, and language backgrounds
