Pay Information
The initial salary placement for this Counselor level position begins between $5,329.73 – $6,803.29 per month. The highest monthly base starting salary is $6,803.29 with a PhD. The maximum salary potential over the span of the Counselor position career may reach $11,086.15. Salary placement is based solely upon education and experience as outlined in the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code §87815, any required adjustment will be made on the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, will be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011).

The Position
Applications are now being accepted for the position of Assistant Professor/Articulation Officer, at San Diego Miramar College beginning Fall 2014. Miramar College is located in the Mira Mesa/Scripps Ranch area of San Diego and is one of three colleges in the San Diego Community College District.
The Articulation Officer reports to the Vice President of Instruction. Primary responsibilities will include coordination of articulation functions between San Diego Miramar College and CSU, UC, private four-year institutions and other community colleges. The assignment includes coordination activities related to curriculum and curriculum development on campus and within the district and maintenance of files/documentation to assure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations that govern inter-segmental articulation of curriculum for transfer purposes. The Articulation Officer will assist the Curriculum Committee and campus departments with the cyclical updating and revision of course outlines and with the submission for acceptance of new courses being developed. Additionally, the Articulation Officer will serve on college and district committees and participate in various departmental and college activities.
Major Responsibilities
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Maintain the college articulation programs, procedures and policies as dictated by the California Education Code; California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) regulations and standards; and California Community College Chancellor’s Office Guidelines and Standards.
Develop, coordinate and maintain a comprehensive articulation program with UC, CSU system and private universities and colleges in California and elsewhere and liaise with the representative articulation staff of these institutions.
Develop, maintain and provide oversight of the college transfer credit, general education, and major preparation articulation programs such as University of California Transfer Course Agreement (UC TCA), Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), California State University General Education Breadth (CSU GEB), Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT), and Course Identification Number (C-ID) in cooperation with other district articulation officers and curriculum representatives.
Provide consultation to the faculty, instructional deans, and other college representatives on course and program articulation issues, especially as related to the review, revision and development of courses with transfer preparation and articulation potential.
Consult with department chairs, deans and vice presidents regarding the establishment of transfer agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOU).
Regularly keep the College community, including the college’s administrators informed of the status regarding articulation agreements, ADT, C-ID, transfer agreements and MOUs with four-year public and private institutions.
Work with faculty, instructional deans and the Vice President for Instruction to assist with: a) required two-year curriculum review and updates as required; b) six-year curriculum review and updates as required by the State.
Serve as technical writer for the college and assist with curriculum development, review and update processes.
Participate in the online curriculum review (CurricuNET) process in a timely manner and on college and district committees responsible for curriculum review and approval.
Maintain articulation files, prepare and disseminate curriculum and articulation reports as required by university and other collegiate organizations and systems.
Participate in college, district, regional and State articulation related activities and organizations to be informed of and to assure timely compliance with inter-segmental articulation changes and developments.
Qualifications
Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions
1. Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, (NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in one of the above listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline) OR,
2. The equivalent OR,
3. Possession of a California Community College Counseling Credential (valid for life).

Desired Qualifications
The Successful candidate shall have demonstrated:
Two-years of experience in general academic counseling and /or academic counseling focusing on transfer preparations in a two-year or four-year higher education institution.
One-year of experience in serving as an articulation officer in a two-year or four-year higher education institution.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the structure and regulations governing community college curriculum to effectively articulate courses and programs between high schools, community colleges, and baccalaureate institutions.
Experience with computer software and technology used to facilitate articulation, transfer, student services, or instruction.
Demonstrated knowledge of policies, procedures and future trends impacting articulation of programs and courses.
Ability to facilitate and coordinate the complex articulation process in a multi-campus district.
Ability to comprehend and explain the nature of articulation issues to respective stakeholders.
Oral and written skills to effectively communicate with campus faculty, administration, staff, and students and outside institutions.
Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge in working with students of great diversity in socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
Foreign Degree:
Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
