The Placer Union High School District (PUHSD) is seeking an educational leader to serve as principal of Foresthill High School (FHS). Located in the Sierra Foothill community of Foresthill, this comprehensive high school serves the communities living on the Foresthill Divide. The Foresthill Divide is a forested, semi-rural area approximately 35 minutes east of the Sacramento region of Placer County--Roseville and Rocklin being the closest larger cities. I-80 is accessible 20 minutes away. With its beautiful natural surroundings, supportive community, and easy access to regional business centers, the Foresthill Divide is an attractive place to live.
FHS is a wonderful facility opened in 2004, with a small student population of 192 serving grades 9-12 allowing for a personalized experience for students, staff and the families. FHS’s mission is to ensure every graduate leaves with the skills and attributes necessary for success after high school. The core values: Pride, Leadership, Hard Work, Integrity, Friendship, Respect, Teamwork, Success -- drive the school. FHS is a Title I school with approximately one-third of its student population participating in the free or reduced price meal program. Although this is the highest rate of all the comprehensive high schools in the district, FHS has the lowest attrition rate of students of all these schools. The graduation rate for the 2011-12 school year was 100%. In SY 2012-13, 80% of all sophomores passed the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) in English Language Arts (ELA), and 80% of all sophomores passed the Mathematics portion.
The PUHSD encompasses 980 square miles, primarily along the I-80 corridor, stretching from the suburbs of Sacramento eastward to Emigrant Gap. There are three other comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school, an independent study high school, an adult education program, and a county ROP program in the district.

-Minimum of 5 years experience in 9-12 education
-Minimum of 3 years administrative experience at 9-12 level - principal experience strongly preferred - with demonstrated success in increasing the achievement of under performing, at-risk students.
-Knowledge of site budgets and school funding
-Strong interpersonal relations skills with demonstrated experience and expertise in building collegial relationships throughout the school community
-Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities with proven experience in the implementation and ongoing development of PLC’s at a school site
-Experience with the development and delivery of online classes
-Strong experience as an instructional leader at the school site level with an emphasis on coaching teachers in the development of quality instructional practices
