SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Receives, proofs and audits data; resolves discrepancies; enters data into a computer; performs general clerical duties; assists students, public and staff as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to possess the skills, knowledge and abilities established for the position. Experience:Equivalent to one (1) year of recent full-time clerical experience, preferably where data processing equipment is used or where large scale systems are applied. Experience in operating a computer is desirable. Other:A valid class C California Driver's License may be required. The ability to speak, read and write a language in addition to English, such as Spanish and Armenian, is desirable. POSITION INFORMATION: Positions in this class are normally 8 hours per day, 10 or 11 months per year. Other vacancies occurring during the next several months may also be filled from the established eligibility list. New employees are normally compensated at the first step of the salary schedule listed above, based upon the number of hours worked per day. Positions in this classification are assigned to the CSEA bargaining unit. EXAMINATION INFORMATION: The examination process for this recruitment may, at the discretion of the Personnel Commission, be comprised of one or any combination of the following: a "paper screening" of the applicant's training, background and experience as listed on the basic application and/or resume; evaluation of responses on a supplemental application; a written examination; an oral examination; a performance or assessment center examination. INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Application forms may be obtained from the Personnel Commission Office (Room 120). Applications submitted by facsimile (FAX) will be accepted only subject to receipt of the official application forms. Resumes are not accepted in place of completed application forms. Completed applications must be received no later than 4:00 p.mU. on the deadline date listed on the front of this bulletin. Neither the Pasadena Unified School District nor the Personnel Commission shall assume responsibility for late notice, delays, or non-delivery due to mail service. DISABILITY ACCOMMODATION: By law, we are not permitted to ask if an applicant has a protected disability. If an applicant requires special accommodation on one or more of the test parts, they must contact the Personnel Commission Office not later than 72 hours before the examination so that accommodation can be arranged to meet their needs. SELECTION PROCEDURES: Applications will be reviewed and evaluated in accordance with the requirements set forth. The term “recent” when used in the requirements normally refers to training and/or experience obtained within the ten-year period immediately prior to the last day for filing applications. Applications can be considered only if they clearly indicate that the requirements are met. All applications accepted at the time of filing are subject to further review and verification and may be rejected at any time if the published requirements for admission to the examination are not met. All applicants will be notified in writing as to the results of this review, as well as the final status once the examination process is completed. The Personnel Commission reserves the right to invite the top 20% of qualified applicants to the examination process. Examinations may consist of a written, and/or performance test, an evaluation of training and experience, an oral examination or interview, or any other combination of tests as determined by the Personnel Commission. Applicants will be notified by the United States mail of the time and place of the examination. No late arrivals will be admitted to the examination and no alternate times will be made. Applicants must receive a score of 70% or better for each part of the examination process, with an overall score of at least 70% for the entire examination process in order to be placed on the eligibility list. No candidate may compete in an examination for the same class more than once every three months, unless otherwise stated. ELIGIBILITY LISTS: Candidates who attain an overall passing score on the examination will be placed in rank order on the eligibility list. Candidate’s scores will be rounded to the nearest whole percent and may be merged with an existing list, if applicable. Eligibility lists are established for the period of one (1) year unless otherwise indicated. Your name will remain on the list until you are hired or decline, fail to report (or a combination) to three interview opportunities. It is the candidate’s responsibility to notify the Personnel Commission Office of any changes in name, address or telephone numbers. When promotional and open competitive lists are established, the promotional list will be used first. Selective certifications based on bilingual ability, etc., for specific positions, may be deemed necessary by the Classified Personnel Office. APPOINTMENT/CERTIFICATION: Final selection of appointees will be made from the top three ranks of certified eligibles on the list, along with others such as transfer eligibles, reinstatement eligibles, etc., who are “ready and willing” to accept the vacant position. All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprinting/conviction clearance, medical examination, and a test for tuberculosis. Employees who receive a regular appointment to the class must serve a probationary period of one hundred and thirty (130) days of paid service. During this period, an employee must demonstrate an overall satisfactory level of performance; failure to do so shall result in the employee's termination without right of appeal to the Personnel Commission.
