The Antelope Valley Union High School District is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy for the following anticipated administrative vacancy for the 2013 - 2014 school year. The Position of Regional Director for College/Career Preparation and Adult Education, under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. This management position will assume responsibility for directing efforts in establishing a regional consortium for Adult Education on behalf of the Antelope Valley Union High School District. The consortium to involve community partners at Antelope Valley College and various local industry leaders and the public at large, interested in developing a viable trained work force to serve Valley employment needs in the 21st Century. SELECTION PROCESS A professional screening committee will conduct preliminary screening based on application information. The most qualified candidates will be selected for interview and further assessment. . QUALIFICATIONS • Three or more years in Educational Administration • Demonstrates knowledge in latest technology applications within education. • Demonstrates the belief that all students can succeed in a rigorous educational program and deserves to be prepared for post-secondary education and career. • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in 21st Century skills and school to career preparation. • Demonstrates an adherence to the vision and mission established for the Antelope Valley Union High School District. • Demonstrates the capacity to become an instructional leader. • Focus on Career Pathways and participation in the implementation of Career Technical Education Pathways and Academies. • Demonstrates capacity to build meaningful mentoring relationships between Industry, community members, and students. • Demonstrates experience working as an effective team leader.

          The salary for the position of Regional Director for College/Career Preparation and Adult Education is determined by the candidate’s placement on the certificated management salary schedule. The annual salary range is $107,963 – $124,633 for the 2013/14 school year. The Regional Director’s work year shall be 224 days. The Regional Director will: • Oversee and manage operations of College and Career Preparation for high school students and the Antelope Valley Adult School. • Direct efforts in designing, developing and offering courses of study in Career Technical Education in support of industry/ educational recommendations. Courses offered by CTE will compliment other educational opportunities provided by the AV Adult School and shall be assigned to the appropriate entity to insure seamless, sequential paths to skill acquisition • Create and establish relationships with community/industry partners as stakeholders in Career Technical Education • Provide a structured, forward looking outreach to our adult community and provide them with resources from which they can fully participate in our Valley’s future as trained members of our Valley work force. • Provide recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services toward designing and offering courses of study that will lead to increasing specific employment skills, providing certain certifications and diplomas based on successful course completion by enrolled students. • Oversee federal/state grant application development, implementation, and reporting The District offers life insurance, medical, dental, orthodontic, behavioral health, and vision coverage options.
