Job Description / Essential Elements: Print   
BASIC FUNCTIONS: Under direction, provides programming and technical support to the users of the District's information system. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This is an experienced level position that requires oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient in computer programming and concepts in an educational setting. Must be able to deal with multiple projects and users, during the same time frame, without direct supervision. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Identifies and analyzes user problems and requirements. 2.Provides technical assistance to users on all standard District applications. 3.Writes programs to implement new applications; maintains current programs and code routines to process data. 4.Ability to modify existing programs and routines to fit user needs; documents and tests programs as necessary. 5.Creates reports using a standard report writer and/or query tools. 6.Analyzes new system/user needs and designs a variety of forms and appropriate reports and listings. Prepares data on various mediums. (e.g. Diskettes, tapes, CDs) 7.Maintains a variety of manual and electronic records and files. 8.Performs backup and maintains backup procedures. 9.Provides training to users on various applications to include Student, Business and HR. 10.Writes and maintains user documentation and technical documentation. 11.Assists other staff members to assure the timely completion of department work. QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Demonstrated experience to ensure successful job performance. 2.Demonstrated experience in computer programming. 3.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, business administrations or related field; or a combination of education and work experience. Two years of experience can be substituted for two years of college. 4.Knowledge of 4th GL's in a multi user environment. 5.Report writer and query tools experience desired. 6.Experience with computer operator function is desirable. 7.Experience with systems administration. 8.Experience with the concepts of LANs and WANs as it relates to the flow of data. 9.Experience with WEB enabled applications is desirable. 10.Ability to speak, read and write English clearly. 11.Ability to maintain cooperative relationships using tact, patience and courtesy. 12.Ability to pass District's physical examination. 13.Possession of a valid California driver's license.
