Position: Teacher on Staff                                                                           

E = Essential Functions

Strong commitment to do whatever it takes for all our students to be college ready and live with the mentality that, “Failure is not an option”. E
Possess an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels. E
Constantly find new methods of teaching to keep up with students’ different learning styles. E
Utilize current events to make learning relevant to the world in which our students live. E
Convey high level thinking strategies and problem solving techniques appropriate for challenging and building skills in students. E
Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes good citizenship and commitment to REACH values. E
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs. E
Build strong relationships with parents by communicating frequently to inform them of student academic and personal growth. E
Give appropriate, persistent and encouraging feedback to students on a regular basis. E
Work enthusiastically and collaboratively with colleagues in vertical and horizontal planning in order to meet students’ individual needs. E
Identify special needs of students and seek additional support as needed. E
Commitment to professional development outside of the classroom and enthusiastically seeking regular in class observation and feedback from peers and Executive Leadership Team for continued growth. E
Assist in general supervision and discipline of students inside and outside of the classroom. E
Adhere to the policies and procedures as outlined in the GPA staff handbook. E
Provide class coverage where needed and follow all essential functions for regularly assigned teachers. E
Take direction from teacher lessons on date of teacher absence. E  
Collaborate in a strong team environment. E
Perform related duties as assigned. E


Minimum Qualifications:

Valid CA Teaching credential in related subject and prior full-time teaching experience highly desired
No Child Left Behind compliant
CSET, CBSET and CLAD exams


Required upon hire: valid TB test, CPR and First Aid Certification and Livescan

Environment: Classroom setting 

Physical Requirements:

Hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to perform assigned duties, walking, sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend at the waist, reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store supplies; must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Requirements for Applying

Substitute teachers (Teachers on Staff) will fill temporary teaching positions in a variety of subject areas every day. If a teacher is not absent, you will report to work and support in a classroom. Pending proper certification, candidates who demonstrate success in this position will be eligible to apply for a full time teaching position that may open at the school. Required upon hire: valid TB test, CPR and First Aid Certification and Livescan • Applicants MUST attach a cover letter/letter of intro, a resume and 3 letters of reference including a letter from your previous supervisor and school principal to be considered for this position Applications without the necessary documents will not be considered for this position.
