DATABASE ANALYST

 

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Manager- Data Systems, analyze, troubleshoot and maintain District student information system databases; prepare detailed, complex reports; coordinate data between systems; manage and maximize efficiency of database processes and servers; troubleshoot and resolve issues; coordinate with network specialists to resolve system and server issues; perform data mining, retrieval and backup functions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Synchronize applications, verify data and administer user accounts and chromebooks; maintain synchronizations, data and administrative functions.

 

Write and maintain customized scripts for third party applications; prepare customized data extracts to synchronize data between systems, including student information systems, library, special education, assessment and nutrition services.

 

Provide helpdesk support to end users; respond to calls and inquiries and provide remote support regarding hardware and software issues

 

Installs, configures and maintains, directly or by managing vendor services, related hardware and software in coordination with other technology support staff and under technology department guidelines and policies.

 

Prepares, creates and maintains documentation and training materials for network applications and related procedures.

 

Prepares and monitors related technology budget for SQL and SaaS products.

 

Manages application accounts, both local and web based.

 

Works with centralized support system staff to implement technology solutions; resolves technology related problems and plan for future growth and direction as related to assigned duties.

 

Analyzes existing methods, forms, records and reports and makes recommendation to improve existing electronic systems or convert manual systems to automated systems.

 

Facilitates introduction of SIS and related technology and process as related to assigned duties into departments.

 

Assists centralized and site staff with development, maintenance and appropriateness of information system applications.

 

Responds to service calls to assist staff in resolving problems related to assigned duties and responsibilities and assists other technology support staff in similar activities.

 

Provides on-site support and training for staff as directed.

 

Monitors and assists other technology staff with technology-related reports and assignments.

 

Writes and maintains documentation and procedures for applications.

 

Provides extracts, imports and support for applications that use the SIS database.

 

Maintains SQL Databases, performs maintenance and backups.

 

Supports CALPADS and other State and Federal Data collection programs.

 

Manages security for online student records and SQL technologies.

Any combination equivalent to:  two years of college-level course work in computer technology and two years software experience in a network environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of an bachelor’s degree in computer science with three (3) years of experience in networked application support with increasing levels of responsibility; • Network related certificates such as CNE/CNA or MCSA Certification for SQL Server 2008 or 2012; or • Three (3) years of experience working in a public education environment supporting financial and/or student administrative applications running on SQL servers. **PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINK ABOVE TO READ THE COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION** Upon offer of employment you will be required to pay for fingerprint processing and a TB clearance. Medical, Dental and Vision benefits are provided at no cost if employed at least 7 hours a day, and on a pro-rated basis from 4 to fewer than 7 hours per day. There are fifteen paid holidays per year for 12 month employees. Vacation for full-time employees is earned at the rate of 22 days per year. Less than 12-month employees, vacation is prorated to the work year. One day of sick leave is earned for each month worked, and can be accumulated indefinitely.
