Coachella Valley Unified School District covers more than 1,200 square miles of mostly rural desert terrain, serving the communities of Coachella, Thermal, Mecca, Oasis, Indio, and the Salton Sea. The district currently operates fourteen elementary schools, three middle schools, three comprehensive high schools, one continuation high school, and one adult school. Coachella Valley Unified School District has a growing reputation for innovative programs and outstanding staff. Coachella Valley Unified School District has a large Latino and English Learner population that has made tremendous improvements in student achievement in the past few years. High School English Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid California credential (or eligibility to obtain no later than August 1st) with an authorization to teach English in grades 9-12 is required. Previous high school English teaching experience preferred.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1.Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
2.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
3.Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like, to communicate these objectives to students.
4.Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
5.Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
6.Identify pupil needs and work with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
