Zinsmeyer Academy is a nonpublic, nonsectarian school certified by the California Department of Education. In addition, the academy is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Zinsmeyer serves students with severe learning disabilities, utilizing evidence-based curriculum practices such as direct instruction and positive behavior intervention and support.
Position Summary:
The Substitute Teacher will provide classroom instruction, guidance and discipline to their assigned students in the absence of the SDC Teacher. The Substitute Teacher will also supervise and direct the teaching assistants assigned to their classroom.
Duties:
· Follow teacher's lesson plan in accordance with IEP requirements
· Accurately take your students attendance on a daily basis
· Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
· Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules
· Assist Lead Teacher in writing students IEP's when needed
· Attend IEP meetings when requested to do so by Principal or Lead Teacher
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
· Emergency Substitute Teacher Permit
· Successful completion of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
· Experience working with emotionally disturbed students is desirable
All employees must pass a pre-employment TB test, drug screen and physical exam. Clearance for Department of Justice/FBI/Child Abuse Index search must be received prior to the first day of work. To meet the insurance underwriting requirements of this agency, employees must maintain a good driving record and keep a current copy of their auto insurance and driver's license in the personnel file with Human Resources.
