Now accepting applications for Assistant Principal The CEO/Principal, staff and community of Steele Canyon High School, a California Charter School, are seeking an exceptional educator and leader to serve as Assistant Principal as part of a vibrant educational team in pursuit of continued academic excellence and school-wide improvement. Steele Canyon is a public conversion charter high school of 2,200 students in grades 9-12 and is located in Spring Valley, California, in the East County Region of San Diego. The new Assistant Principal will hold a broad scope of responsibilities. These may include, but are not limited to, the following areas of leadership: instructional development, supervision/evaluation of staff, facilitation of academic progress, testing coordination,student discipline, guidance/counseling leadership,campus supervision, attendance management, fiscal management, master schedule development, and guidance of athletics and student activities. All Steele Canyon administrators must be comfortable participating in a collaborative, joint decision-making school. The philosophy at Steele Canyon is a shared vision based upon mutual respect and investment in maximizing the educational development of its students and staff. Successful applicants are personable, open, self-directed and good listeners. Each applicant should be knowledgeable, insightful and innovative in the areas of educational leadership, professional development and the operations of an educational institution. An Assistant Principal must be naturally positive and supportive in interactions with students, staff and parents. Candidates should be comfortable and skillful in dealing with the cultural diversity of the school and be able to nurture a positive and welcoming relationship with the community. Previous administrative experience, completion of a Master's Degree, successful classroom teaching or counseling experience and a valid California Administrative Services Credential (or equivalent) are preferred.
