The apprentice teacher holds the responsibility for planning, implementation, and reflection of lesson plans for scholars in an effort to maximize student achievement while growing as a professional educator. The mission of Equitas Academy Middle School is to provide a structured, achievement-based community that prepares students to graduate from college-preparatory high schools, four-year colleges and universities.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Prepare, plan and develop detailed lesson plans that are consistent with the mission of Equitas Academy
• Assist with the development of the curriculum
• Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction
• Provide instruction in various drills and activities using learning strategies ?designed to introduce, reinforce, or modify skills
• Maintain updated and organized paperwork, files, and records
• Maintain high behavioral expectations for student behavior
• Enforce Equitas Academy’s positive discipline policies
• Carry out lesson plans in the event of a teacher’s absence
• Actively participate in professional development aimed at refining both school ?culture and academics
• Work and assistant teachers during the school day with instruction, oversight, ?and supervision of students
• Model and teach core values of Equitas Academy
• Follow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutrition
• Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and other stakeholders
• Perform other duties as assigned
An ideal candidate for the Equitas Academy team will possess:
• A bachelor’s degree
• A California multiple subject teaching credential (non-enrichment teachers)
• A strong background in and command of academic content
• At least one year full-time teaching experience
• Demonstrated success working with students in traditionally underserved communities
• Bilingual Spanish (preferred, but not required)
