QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate California Education Specialist credential authorizing service as a resource specialist (Education Specialist: Mild/Moderate OR Learning Handicapped Specialist)
- CLAD certification
- NCLB in mathematics
- A demonstrated understanding of appropriate curriculum and curriculum modifications for students with special needs in sheltered and inclusion settings
- Experience with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Successful teaching experience
- A demonstrated understanding of the growth and development stages of students with special needs
- Excellent organizational skills
- An understanding of the need for a positive, motivating environment for all students, including English language learners and learning handicapped
- A philosophy of discipline and a style of classroom management which are aligned and consistent with the other members of the staff
- Willingness to be an active participant in the co-curricular clubs, activities , intramurals or sports programs of the school, which includes additional hours
- Committed to ongoing professional growth and continuing education
