Position: EL Paraprofessional Classification: At-Will Classified
Bilingual/Spanish Reports To: Charter Director Salary: $12.78 hr. Hours: 3.75 hours per day
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provide instructional support and assistance to teachers and students assigned to a designated instructional program and perform a variety of clerical support duties.
JOB DUTIES:
- Perform a variety of tasks concerned with the educational activities of the students including the independent direction of groups of students.
- Assist the teacher by working with individual groups of students, establish, organize, and maintain learning stations.
- Operate audio-visual equipment. Provide tutorial services on a wide variety of subjects under the direction of the teacher.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or selective professional growth activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Techniques and methods of child supervision.
- Modern office methods, practices, procedures, and equipment including a computer terminal for use in e-mails, Microsoft programs, copy machine and other office machines.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: High School diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or State High School Proficiency certification supplemented by an Associate’s or higher degree and sufficient experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. Two years of study at an institute of higher education equivalent to 48 semester units or successful completion of the Fresno County Office of Education adopted Para educator Academic Assessment may be substituted for the Associate’s Degree.

- Persons performing service in this position classification may exert 5 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- This type of work involves sitting a portion of the time, but will involve walking or standing for brief periods.
- Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far, vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
