JOB DESCRIPTION
The Parent coordinator assists the Principal with administrative support for parent/student related activities. Upholds the mission and values established by Aspire Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Parent/Community Involvement:
1. Send out monthly parent newsletters/calendars
2. Organize parent meetings/workshops
3. Lead the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), minutes & agenda
4. PAC: File Tardy Notes, Release Notes, Absence/Re-admit Notes
5. Answer any parent-related questions: volunteers, involvement
6. Outreach to community for fundraising, contacts, networking
7. Calculate parent hours & organize end of year banquet with certificates of participation
Student Support:
8. Assist ASB with any student events
9. Senior Class Advisor – organize and support events
10. Assist/organize/support student activities
All Office Staff:
11. Answer phones, take messages, check voice mails
12. Greet parents, answer questions from public
13. Call students out of class when required
14. Release students to parents/emergency contacts; verify emergency card if needed
15. Provide students/teachers first aid supplies
16. Take student temperatures; provide fair judgment regarding their health concerns
Other:
17. Organize fundraising events
18. Order items to sell for profit, chocolates, pizza, nachos, etc.
19. Distribute meals during nutritions and lunch
20. Organize and promote “Friday Treats”
21. Translate/proofread documents into Spanish
22. Assist families in filling out student interest forms
23. Other duties as assigned
Requirements / Qualifications
1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities: • Strong event management skills • Excellent relationship building and management skills • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills • Strong organization, time management and follow-up skills • High sense of urgency • Bilingual – Spanish speaking and writing • Demonstrated commitment to students and learning 2) Minimum educational level: • None 3) Experience required • 1-3 years of parent coordinator experience preferred, but not required
