Certificated Position Job Description for: Speech and Language Pathologist
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide services that include assessment and remediation for individuals handicapped by disorders of speech and language.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess and set up remediation programs for students with speech and language handicaps. The extent of the language handicap determines the type of special services provided for identified students.
The specialist will assume the responsibilities of testing and providing remediation according to established guidelines; hold parent conferences; complete required State and District reports; make appropriate referrals to other agencies; attend Admission and Discharge Committee meetings when required.
Responsible to the Program Coordinator who will make assignments according to each Specialist's unique abilities and preferences, when possible, for the type of speech/language program in which they desire to work, i.e. itinerant services or language classes.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Qualifications - must hold valid credential in Speech and Language Services or ability to obtain a waiver in the appropriate credential.
