Requirements for Applying

Pupil Personnel Services/Psychology Credential Preferred both clinical and school psychologist experience with a clinical license such as an MFT, PsyD, or Clinical Ph.D.

DUTIES: • Administer intelligence tests, achievement tests, personality tests and tests to measure perceptual and motor development • Evaluate and interpret testing and make recommendations for school and class placements for students defined by the state of California as qualifying for Special Education Services in order to benefit from their education • Interpret test findings to parents as needed; counsel with parents regarding student’s potential, achievement level, and personality adjustment; recommend to parents ways of helping student or recommend sources from which they may seek further counseling • Confer with teachers, administrators, and other professional staff on findings of individual tests and help them in their efforts to better understand and place each student • Provide a recommended program of prescriptive instruction for each student assigned to the special class • Consult with other agencies, both public and private, regarding individual cases • Consult with other psychologists, psychiatrists and physicians for the purpose of correlating available information regarding individual cases • Make recommendations in cases of exemption, non-promotion, acceleration and other cases upon request • Counsel individual pupils regarding test findings, academic problems, social or emotional problems and general vocational goals upon request of the school administration • Write complete report on each student tested and file with test record; keep required monthly records and files in Guidance Services Office; make appropriate entries on cumulative record for each student tested • Participate in faculty meetings, PTA or other parent group meetings, and other community groups as a representative of the Guidance Services Department upon request
