Requirements for Applying

Effective Date of Employment: As soon as possible after selection of applicant. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Under the direction of the Director of Food Services, supervise and participate in the operation of an intermediate school or county school cooking kitchen and cafeteria. Assure the preparation, cooking and baking of menu items; cook or direct others in cooking and assist in the serving of food; maintain standards of efficiency and sanitation in large quantity food preparation. Schedule, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned Food Service Assistants; train assigned employees as necessary. Estimate and order required quantities of food and supplies from established vendors; maintain necessary inventory, cost and sales records. Prepare a separate menu for breakfast and lunch catering to the needs of physically handicapped students. Assure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner according to school schedules; estimate lunch counts and determine substitute foods when necessary. Prepare and maintain a variety of reports. Perform related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by course work in safety and sanitation and food handling and preparation and three years experience in quantity food preparation, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
