Job Purpose Statement: The job of Senior Maintenance Worker is done for the purpose of maintaining facilities
in safe operating condition; maintaining a preventive maintenance program; directing assigned maintenance support
personnel; documenting information; and resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns.
Essential Job Functions:
Assembles furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing items in working condition.
Coordinates with other staff for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
Designs/plans systems and/or projects for the purpose of meeting various district maintenance and facilities needs.
Directs assigned maintenance support personnel for the purpose of ensuring work is completed safely and
accurately and in a timely manner.
Inspects facilities, systems and their component machinery requiring skilled maintenance trades (i.e. electrical,
HVAC, painting, carpentry, energy management, mechanic, plumbing, electronics, etc.) for the purpose of
identifying potential repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventive maintenance.
Installs machinery and equipment requiring skilled maintenance trades (i.e. electrical, HVAC, plumbing, security,
etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in safe, comfortable and operating condition.
Maintains accounts for budget purposes.
Orders supplies, equipment and tools for the purpose of ensuring adequate materials are available to complete
assignments in a timely manner.
Prepares documentation for the purpose for providing written support and/or conveying information.
Procures equipment supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and
completing jobs efficiently.
Repairs systems requiring the skills of maintenance trade (i.e. electrical, H.V.A.C., plumbing, security, etc.) for the
purpose of maintaining facilities in safe, comfortable and operating conditions.
Requests quotations for the purpose of providing cost information, purchasing and security items.
Responds to emergency situations (e.g. facility damage, damaged playground equipment, roof leaks, etc.) for the
purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
Transports various items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at job site as
required to complete tasks.
Other Job Functions:
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work
Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform.
Orients school personnel for the purpose of providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment.

Knowledge to perform math for appropriate practical applications; to read technical information, create and/or

Skills to perform multiple highly complex specialized technical tasks. Specific skills to apply pertinent codes,
policies, regulations and/or laws; communicate with persons of varied cultural and educational backgrounds; operate
equipment used in profession; plan and manage projects; prepare and maintain accurate records; and utilize pertinent
Abilities to deal with a level of complexity of tasks that requires significant flexibility with people; discretion,
independent action and/or judgment with regards to using equipment and/or working with people; diversity of
equipment; and interacting with persons and/or agendas that frequently change. Specific abilities to adhere to safety
practices; be attentive to detail; meet deadlines and schedules; and work under time constraints. Keyboard/computer
literate. Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Working Environment: The job functions are generally performed in an indoor/outdoor environment requiring
the following significant physical abilities: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling; climbing and balancing; stooping,
kneeling, crouching; reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling; sensory speaking, hearing and visual.
Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience Requirements: Three years job related experience within specialized field is desirable. Additional
coursework in related field is also desirable.
Licensing, Certification, Testing Requirements: Fingerprint/criminal justice clearance; Tuberculosis clearance;
valid drivers license and evidence of insurability. Job specific licenses may be required.
