Job Description / Essential Elements:
Under general supervision of the Principal, or designee to supervise and monitor the campus, adjacent areas and the parking area; perform a variety of security activities and to do related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Maintains a safe and orderly atmosphere while supervising, patrolling and monitoring the campus, restrooms and parking areas. Checks restrooms and other facilities/areas to ensure that the rules of the school are being followed; discourages vandalism while developing rapport with students. Uses positive reinforcement strategies and other appropriate techniques to assist students. Maintains student discipline according to established rules; reports violations of school rules or illegal actions to administrators when appropriate; oversees and supervises students during school activities, classroom activities, detention, field trips, sporting events, etc. to ensure that students function in a safe and sportsmanlike manner; writes referrals on students violating school rules; escorts students to the appropriate school administrator when necessary; answers questions and directs visitors; aids police in investigation and apprehension of students involved in violations; assists in the supervision of students at extracurricular activities; accompanies school personnel to banks for cash deposits; opens and closes campus gates; discusses security matters with school administrators.
Positions in this class receive general supervision, assignment, and training from the site Administrator and/or his/her designated representative.
Responsible for supervision of students on the grounds, parking/bicycle areas and related areas according to rules established by the school district and site administration. May direct the work of Campus Supervisor I and Campus Supervisor II.

Enforce campus security, control, rules and regulations; maintain a positive attitude toward adolescents; endure physical stress; maintain composure under stressful situations; perform effectively and assertively in situations requiring tact, diplomacy and good judgment; operate a hand held two-way radio; communicate effectively in oral and written form, especially with adolescents.
Flexibility; patience; positive attitude toward students; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; establish and maintain effective organization, community and public relationships; comply with the District’s customer service standards, as outlined in Board Policy.
Valid California Driver’s License and current First Aid Card/CPR.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; three years of experience in public contact work, preferably with students or any combination of training and experience that would likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities; First Aid Certificate/CPR Training.
Good physical condition as determined by pre and post-employment inquires and health reports; capable of sustained walking and patrol; move quickly around the entire campus; bend, stoop, reach and climb stairs. Must pass District physical examination, which includes drug screening.
