Job Description / Essential Elements: Print   
The District offers an optional dual language immersion program in Spanish at the K-5 level. The program is designed to provide opportunities for elementary students to gain comprehensive literacy skills in both Spanish and English, as well as to enhance the students’ cross-cultural understanding. Under the immediate direction of the Building Principal, is responsible for the academic, social and psychological growth of primary students. Collaborates with school personnel, parent and community agencies to provide quality instructional programs. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Provides academic content instruction to English and Spanish speaking students with the goal of bilingual proficiency and literacy in both languages. • Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies and resources, including technology tools, to teach all academic subjects in the self contained immersion classroom. • Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs of all pupils. • Evaluates academic and social growth of pupils and keeps appropriate records • Utilizes a variety of materials and methods designed to meet the different learning modes of students. • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities. • Communicates with parents through a variety of means. Holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student’s progress and interpret the school program. • Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers. • Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities. QUALIFICATIONS • Valid California Multiple Subject teaching credential • Valid California BCLAD Spanish Authorization • Must be an excellent language model in both Spanish and English
