Morgan Autism Center
Executive Director Position
Morgan Autism Center is seeking a new executive director to continue a 44 year history of providing effective and compassionate educational services for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other severe neurological disorders. Duties, responsibility and authority include providing vision and leadership, maintaining program integrity and quality services, and overseeing business operations and program development. Expectations also include incorporation of the MAC role within the larger community as well as expanding the understanding and community involvement for our students and adults. Starting date: 2013-2014 school year; flexible start date with strong preference for 1-3 month transition period summer or fall 2013.
Morgan Autism Center
Morgan Autism Center (MAC), founded in 1969, is a highly regarded private school serving students with severe developmental disabilities. Since its inception, MAC has championed a teaching model which takes into account individual neurophysiological differences and provides flexible, individualized errorless learning (Morgan Autism Center Model) for students ages 3 to 22 and adult program participants. MAC currently provides services for 110 individuals with a staff of 98 and annual budget of $5.5M. Outreach programs include: training public schools to implement the Morgan Autism Center Model, the MAC lecture series, guest lectures at Santa Clara and San Jose State universities, and the annual Morgan Autism Center autism conference in conjunction with Santa Clara University.
Experience
Strong leadership experience, preferably in non-profit sector and educational setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of autism and PDD, special education systems, developmental disability services, trends in the sector, appropriate laws and regulations, as well as related funding sources.
In depth experience of personnel management and HR best practices.
Financial skills including budget management, facility with P/L, balance sheets and contract management/negotiation.
Experience in developing and implementing programs, organizational and financial plans with board of directors.
Demonstrated business development, strong public speaking skills, community relations and networking capabilities.
Knowledge and experience with creating family support systems.
Minimum of BA or BS degree required; graduate degree or equivalent required. Minimum of five years related work experience; hands-on experience working with developmentally delayed population helpful. Computer skills required.
