Completed Edjoin Classified Application 5 min. timed typing certificate minimum 50 wpm issued within the last two years must be attached Pass written examination scheduled for 1-29-2013 Location of vacancy: West Covina High School FINAL DATE TO FILE APPLICATION: MONDAY, JANUARY 28, 2013 AT 4 P.M. OR 25 APPLICATIONS WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provide accurate accounting of student enrollment and attendance in accordance with the provisions of the California Education Code; provide clerical assistance in an attendance office and prepare and account for complex attendance reports; communicate with staff, students and parents concerning student attendance and other student issues as assigned; compile and account for daily period-by-period attendance of students; assure the accurate and complete recording of attendance accounting for the auditor's review; assist in identifying and resolving problems of students with frequent absenteeism; refer suspected child abuse or serious illnesses and injuries to appropriate authorities; process and verify student absence information from parents and teachers; issue various excuses to students for absence from class; issue re-admittance cards for students returning ; make and receive phone calls and notes regarding student absences; operate a variety of office machines including a computer terminal and printer, typewriter, and calculator; perform related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by course work in record-keeping and two years of clerical experience involving record keeping, including experience working with the public. Passing score on written examination and typing of 50 words per minute. A typing certificate (minimum 50 wpm) must be presented prior to the final filing date. The written examination is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the ERC Building, 1717 W. Merced Ave., West Covina. Late arrivals will not be admitted. District applicants must submit an interest form. Any employee who has not updated his/her application during the last year is required to do so.
