Incumbents in this classification may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed here. Assists users of the library in the use of reference books, card catalog (automated), shelf list files, audio visual equipment, etc.; collect fees for lost or damaged materials; obtain books for reserve on teacher request; coordinate with teachers in presenting materials and information to students as a reinforcement of curriculum being taught in classroom; works with students in the library or classroom to implement core or intervention programs; maintains accurate records of "check-out" and reserved items, utilizing computer system; repairs to damaged books; performs annual inventory and maintains current inventory; requisitions materials and supplies and processes new materials; coordinates library schedule. Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent AND: Six months recent paid experience (within last 10 years) in a comparable position or Successful completion of a recent one-semester library training class and experience working with computers (transcripts must be attached) Knowledge of Dewey Decimal system; modern office practices, including computers and software; modern library procedures; correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Keyboard neatly and accurately at least 20 wpm. Applicants must successfully complete each part of the examination process in order to be considered further. TYPING TEST: ANTELOPE VALLEY WORK SOURCE CENTER – 1420 W. AVENUE I. TYPING TEST MUST BE FIVE MINUTES IN LENGTH. HOURS: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM (MON. – FRIDAY). YOU MUST HAVE THE AV WORK SOURCE CENTER STAMP YOUR CERTIFICATE WITH THEIR WORK STAMP. YOU MAY ALSO GO TO THE ANTELOPE VALLEY COLLEGE – NON STUDENTS WILL PAY A $15.00 FEE FOR THE TYPING CERTIFICATE. YOU MUST ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR CERTIFICATE WITH YOUR APPLICATION/LETTER OF INTENT. If you have a typing score on file, please verify that your score is at 20 wpm. *Open Examination – the written examination will carry a weight of 100%. An eligibility list will be in effect for 6 months or until fewer than 3 applicants remain on the list. If FIVE (5) qualified applicants from the Lancaster School District demonstrate the ability to meet the job qualifications and pass the examination, the position will be filled on a promotional basis.
