Job Description / Essential Elements: Print   
LIBRARIAN ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIPS 1. Directly responsible to the principal and/or designee. 2. Maintain appropriate lines of communication with students, faculty, administration, and district. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Plan, administer, and account for the budget, reports, and records. 2. Assist in the selection of and is responsible for the training of all personnel for the media center program. 3. Is responsible for the selection, acquisition, classification, cataloging, processing, physical upkeep, and inventory of all print and non-print materials needed for the media center, for control systems and routines, and for periodicals for the classrooms. 4. Is responsible for the preparation, publication, evaluation, and distribution of the media catalog. 5. Is responsible for application, selection, purchase, and inventory in connection with special grants under district supervision. 6. Serve as an instructional resource consultant and materials specialist to teachers and students in the media center and in the classroom as needed. 7. Teach the effective use of media. 8. Direct the independent learning and study programs. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS 1. Academic Holds valid credentials. MLS degree and/or MA with specialty in media 2. Related Experience a. Successful classroom teaching b. Public or specialized library work and/or multi-media experience 3. Professional Experience a. Belongs to and is active in professional organizations b. Demonstrates ability to relate to, work with, and involve students and faculty.

Must have a valid Teacher Librarian Services Credential. CBEST required.

Letter of Introduction, current resume, completed EDJOIN application, college transcripts, CBEST card (or other basic skills exam), valid teacher librarian services credential, CSET results (if applicable), NCLB (if available), two letters of recommendation that have been written within the past year (one of these letters should be from your current supervisor or immediate preceding supervisor).
