CLASS TITLE: ATTENDANCE ASSISTANT
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of duties involved in student attendance record-keeping and reporting activities; process and verify excused and unexcused absences; distribute, collect and process attendance and various other forms and documents.
Perform a variety of duties involved in student attendance record-keeping and reporting activities; provide accurate reporting for daily attendance activities and update attendance data and records for required ADA reporting.
Verify, process and record excused and unexcused absences; retrieve and log absence calls from automated recorder as assigned; process and verify student absence information from parents and others; contact parents, teachers and others to verify absences.
Utilize a computer to input, scan and update attendance and other student information; establish and maintain automated student records; initiate queries, develop spreadsheets and generate a variety of computerized lists, reports and documents; code attendance data as required.
Compile data and prepare and maintain a variety of records, logs and reports related to attendance, students, tardies, enrollment, grades, ADA and assigned activities; establish and maintain filing systems.
Prepare, print distribute, collect, verify, process, sort and file various attendance forms such as scantrons, admit slips, rosters and verifications as assigned; review forms for accuracy and completeness; make corrections or request additional information as needed.
Initiate and receive telephone calls concerning attendance matters and assigned activities; screen and route calls as directed; take and relay messages; greet and assist visitors; respond to inquiries and provide student attendance and other information to District personnel, parents and others.
Issue passes to students who are late or returning after an absence as assigned; issue off-campus passes as required; make calls to retrieve students from class and distribute messages to students as requested.
Compose, type and distribute a variety of correspondence such as lists, letters, independent study contracts and flyers; duplicate materials as needed.
Provide general assistance and information to parents, staff, faculty and others concerning attendance and related issues, information, policies and procedures as requested.
Communicate with District personnel, parents and various outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
Operate a variety of office equipment including a copier, scanner, computer and assigned software.
Set up student schedules, process schedule changes and prepare related paperwork as required; process related applications.
Participate in a variety of other assigned activities such as ordering supplies and processing purchase orders, work orders and payroll vouchers.
Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years clerical experience including record-keeping duties and work with student attendance functions.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.

Sitting for extended periods of time.
Seeing to read a variety of materials.
