Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, performs a variety of clerical duties in support of the Transition Partnership Program (TPP) The TPP program assists special needs students in preparation for transition into the workforce.
Education and Experience
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent
- Minimum of two years of responsible clerical experience, involving interaction with the public
- Clerical experience in a school setting is highly desirable
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: modern office practices, procedures and equipment; record-keeping techniques; computer equipment and related software, including Microsoft Word and Excel; telephone techniques and etiquette; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; applicable sections of State Education Code and other applicable laws
Ability to: perform a wide variety of clerical duties in support of assigned school program; understand and follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and administration in a professional and friendly manner; learn, interpret and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures; maintain records and prepare reports; type at 50 words net per minute from clear copy; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; meet schedules and timelines; operate a variety of office machines, including personal computer and related software, including Microsoft Word and Excel at least at an intermediate level; work independently with little direction.
