Our Community School is seeking a new Principal/Executive Director 2016 Our Community School is a tuition-free, K to 8 public charter school where staff members, students and families collaborate in the ongoing process of education. Our diverse and caring community balances academics with creativity, thereby fostering independent thinkers, problem solvers and leaders. We nurture multiple aspects of a child's development: physical, emotional, intellectual, artistic and social. We empower students to become informed and ethical members of our democratic society. Principal/Executive Director at Our Community School is responsible for: Educational Program: Leadership and oversight of all aspects of the educational program, including curriculum, assessment, teacher professional development and teacher evaluations, leadership in preparing for charter renewal and Charter School Office oversight and annual reviews, Business: Provides leadership for fair and ethical treatment of all employees and contractors and fosters a positive reputation for the school in all its business dealings, overseeing budget development and expenditures, Community: Represents the school and is the key communicator of the school’s vision to all stakeholders including the staff, students, parents, Board, community members, and LAUSD. Develops and maintains community partnerships and strategic political alliances. Our Community School is seeking a new principal. Applicants should have teaching experience in a K-8 classroom, charter school experience, administrative experience, and an administrative credential or other relevant Masters or Doctorate degree. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with knowledge of Singapore Math, Common Core, Reading and Writing Workshop, Responsive Classroom, and Critical Friends Group Protocols. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate is an optimistic visionary, who trusts and listens to all stakeholders, is child-centered and willing to learn new things in a rapid paced environment.
