Associate Superintendent, Business Services

Job Description 

Under the direction of the superintendent, the Associate Superintendent of Business Services, plans, organizes, directs, supervises and reviews the fiscal and business activities of the district and provides expertise and advice on all school business matters.  He/she shall be responsible for keeping the school district financially solvent and for implementing the vision of the district regarding financial matters.

 Major Duties:

Serve as the Chief Business Official of the District; leads the district in all fiscal and business activities; plans for the fiscal solvency of the district; oversees the maintenance of district facilities and assets; plans for the construction needs of the district; maintains resources to accomplish curricular goals; develops district and site safety plans; plans for the technology needs of the district; supervises all district business departments and business operations.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Valid California administrative services credential or Chief Business Official (CBO) certificate required. Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree in related area; a minimum of three years of effective experience in school business management or comparable government or private sector experience, or related school administrative activities is required, with a working knowledge of appropriate technology.

 Responsibilities:

Oversees and is responsible for preparation of an annual district budget consistent with district goals and objectives, applicable laws, codes and ordinances and professional accounting standards; maintains fiscal soundness of district; advises on financial and operational aspects of labor contract negotiations; oversees site utilization/enrollment/attendance; plans for and supervises all district construction projects; supervises plant operations, maintenance, warehousing and food services; administers school supplies and equipment; ensures student and staff safety; coordinates intergovernmental agency relations and foundations; plans for and coordinates pupil transportation; plans for the acquisition, operation and maintenance of district technology; oversees all district insurance programs; supervises assigned certificated and classified personnel.

Appointment to this position predicated upon submitting a negative TB result, and candidate must complete the state fingerprinting requirements and the district must receive a clearance by the California Department of Justice.
