High School Special Education History Teacher Bayhill High School Bayhill High School is seeking a History teacher to join our faculty in August for the 2008-09 school year. Bayhill specializes in the education of students with learning disabilities. It is truly a unique and rewarding place for teachers to work with students with special needs. Students are highly motivated with few behavior problems. Teachers are able to devote themselves to teaching rather than paperwork or casemanagement. Bayhill is a small school with a high level of teamwork among its faculty. Parents are highly involved and supportive. Our facility is an ideal place for learning. The successful candidate will teach U.S. History, Governments, and Econics. We are looking for a teacher who is creative, uses multi-sensory teaching techniques, and is structured. A California special education teaching credential or progress towards one is required, as well as competency in the area of History/Social Studies. Experience with learning disabled students also required. Bayhill High School is a nonprofit private school for students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds who have learning differences. The mission of Bayhill High School is to educate students with language-based learning disabilities, focusing on their individual needs and maximizing their inherent abilities and their potential for success. Bayhill High School is located across from Lake Merritt in Oakland. Teaching assignment includes World History, American History and collaborative planning/teaching with English Teacher. Requirements: California Credential--single subject 3 years teaching experience knowledge of scaffolding and accommodations in the classroom
