The Institution:
Folsom Lake College is the fourth and newest college in the Los Rios Community College District. The college and its centers, El Dorado and Rancho Cordova, are a dynamic learning community committed to academic excellence and innovation. The college provides high quality educational programs and services to enrich and empower students to reach their full potential as informed and productive members of the community.
The college awards Associate in Arts or Science degrees, Career Technical Education certificates, and transfer credit for students who intend to continue their education at a four year college or university. Folsom Lake College offers a full spectrum of services and programs - all dedicated to enhancing college success. The college provides varied degree and certificate programs, a variety of learning opportunities, and ensures a comprehensive student services program. To meet student needs, the college provides classes in a variety of scheduling modalities including semester, short term and weekends. Folsom Lake College also incorporates the newest technologies for classroom instruction and offers classes in a variety of distance education formats including televised, online, and hybrid.
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the College President, the Vice President of Student Services has the responsibility for the general supervision and direction of all student services, including the following: the selection, supervision and evaluation of student services personnel; the development and supervision of appropriate budgets; enhancement of student services programs in day, evening and summer sessions at all college sites; the support and development of a climate which promotes innovation and which develops appropriate outcomes; the assessment for both programs and services to evaluate the effectiveness of the student learning and success programs; working integrally with the other vice presidents, managers and staff in the development of processes which are student-friendly and supportive of student success; engages with the other Vice Presidents of Student Services and others throughout the Los Rios Community College District in the evaluation of district regulations, policy and/or procedures that relate to effective implementation and accurate accountability; and works cooperatively with the management team and the district staff in all areas of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Typical Duties:
Functions as general administrator of student services functions at the main campus and two centers. These functions include but are not limited to the following: a) admissions, records, registration; b) counseling, assessment, matriculation, articulation; c) student life program; d) DSP&S, EOP&S, CalWORKs, re-entry, transition, and veteran's center; e) student development; f) career services and student employment, g) health services; h) financial aid; and i) outreach and transfer.
. Assesses and responds to the needs of students and the community, changing demographics, and organizational needs.
. Develops a positive environment that supports teamwork and innovation.
. Develops and maintains strong interrelationships across student services programs and between student services and instruction.
. Ensures accountability of student services categorical programs and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, and district and college policies and procedures.
. Develops and manages resource assessment, planning, budgeting, and allocation processes.
. Provides supervision, evaluation and staff development for the areas of responsibility; recommends to the President the hiring, retention or dismissal of members of the student services staff.
. Plans, develops and administers the budget for the services areas; provides direction and advice regarding fiscal management of student and campus organizations; advises student government concerning budgetary planning/fiscal management.
. Coordinates instructionally related student activities with the Vice President of Instruction. Supervises student disciplinary/due process procedures.
. Assists the College President in articulation, outreach and community efforts; serves on local, district and state committees as directed by the College President.
. Coordinates with the Vice President of Instruction, an array of supportive programs and services for targeted populations.
. Prepares reports as necessary for the College President. Keeps informed of legislation which affects community college student services programs.
. Serves as a regular member of the College President's Executive Team.
. May work evenings and weekends as required.
. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requirements
1. Have a master's degree from an accredited institution completed by January 2, 2013.
2. Have the equivalent of three full years of recent teaching or counseling experience in post secondary education or in high school; or have three years of recent professional experience in education, business, or government.
3. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles.

When education is a requirement for the position, official academic transcripts from the accredited college/university must be submitted within 60 days of hire.
Administrative/Executive/Faculty Positions: Contingent on funding and eligibility, successful candidates selected for an interview may be eligible to apply for partial reimbursement of travel expenses.
Administrative/Executive Positions: Administrative positions may be subject to the District's Conflict of Interest Code, and a statement of economic interest is required within thirty (30) days following appointment to the position. Management/Executive positions are exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

For permanent and adjunct faculty positions, when education is a requirement for the position, official academic transcripts from the accredited college/university must be submitted within 60 days of hire.
The District may select additional qualified candidates should unexpected vacancies or needs occur during this recruitment/selection process.
Administrative positions may be subject to the District's Conflict of Interest Code, and a financial disclosure statement is required within thirty (30) days following appointment to the position.
Contingent on funding and eligibility, successful candidates selected for an interview may be eligible to apply for partial reimbursement of travel expenses (for Administrative/Executive and Faculty positions).
Additional Salary Information:
Additional stipend for an earned doctorate from an accredited university.
